Over the past few years I've bought, then swapped, sold, or given away my share of mouthpieces. Of all those I parted with, there's only one I wish I had back: an MC Gregory LA Model 5A/20 tenor mpc, that was opened up to .100" by Jey Clark.
Dave Bass, if you're out there...you wanna sell it back to me?

Don't get me started! Back before I knew the value of these things, I made some foolish trades. I'd like to get back the Florida Link STM 5* I traded away, along with a 70s era Berg HR 130/0. Don't even remember what I got in exchange, but it couldn't have been worth it.
pieces id sold or traded like an idiot.
small chambered meyer alto.great player !
several ny meyer alto and tenor pieces .(i really didnt like them that much but the prices they bring now....)
40s dukoff which was mint and played great . jey clark got that one cheap..
dukoff 5d alto that was a player i sold. but i still have plenty of good dukoffs
by the way .i too sold a la grgory alto to dave bass. he whined about minor imperfections in a 50 or 60 year old gregory and tried to get me to give him a partial refund. acted like a total jerk. i offered him a full refund with shipping and he wouldnt send the piece back. and then gave me a neutral with unkind words. that guy didnt deserve your great playing gregory tenor!

Hmmm, about the only regret I have re mp's is the hand made studio Guardala I tried which was second hand but looked new. I didn't buy it at the time because I thought it was too expensive, even though it was by far the best piece I had ever tried up till then. Wish I had bought it, even if just to know whether it was as good as I thought it was then!

No regrets here... you all can keep that junk I unloaded. Good riddance!
My Woodwind (Dukoff) metal 5* stolen at Berklee in 1964 - if anyone has a lead????? Make me an offer I can't refuse.

I wish I had the Doc Tenney Tonalin I bought from m3pilot. I foolishly sold it on ebay for less than I paid and it was a killer player. I didn't think I was going to like the Tonalin sound but now that is what and use and I love those mpcs.:(

I had a really old MB I (before there were MB II's and I's) with a huge chamber and a tip at .120..........I made a bunch on it, but I kick myself in the a$! when I think about it. Good piece...........

Stop it Guys!
Don't you know it's a known fact that; "the longer you've not had it, the better it used to be?"

So. Let me get this straight.....if you miss something or regret something that you did, this means that it sucked?......Brilliant........
Fortunately (or maybe unfortunately) I still have almost every mouthpiece I ever bought. Forty or fifty including clarinet pieces. I would thin the herd but what would I do with the money? Buy some new pieces probably.

The only one I'd like to have back really is the original Buescher mouthpiece that came with my grandfather's alto ('20s true-tone) that got me into playing sax. It was in the case when I started playing it (I was about 12 at the time), and shortly thereafter I tried to "reface it" with sandpaper, rendering it useless. It got thrown out shortly thereafter. Dumb kid. I probably wouldn't play it now, but I'd still like to have it for sentiment's sake.

Early babbitt tone edge #5 HR Link.
Not even because I want it back - but because I probably could have sold it for more cash :)

Might be. Although I never heard of a mouthpiece walking away by itself. Maybe after you ate a dorrito :)

You know, I've been debating selling the original Buescher mouthpiece that came with my True Tone; seeing what even abused ones are going for. Yeah, I know, it's not that much, but still... I've only played it once, and when I did it was like being teleported back to 1920 and I was playing through a victrola. Kinda cool, but not the effect I was looking for. To avoid feelings such as those expressed in this thread, you'd think I'd want to hold on to it; especially when I still have the original case, warranty card, etc. Then again, there are folks that want to use this piece and it's not like it's doing anybody any good sitting in a drawer. Will there be a day when originally equipped True Tones are comanding top dollar? Would've, could've, should've...

I sold my Brillhart Tonalin 3* for about $300 in the late 70’s after I decided that I would never play sax again. That wasn’t a bad price for the mouthpiece (that’s about what they sell for now) except I also sold the King Zephyr tenor that was attached to it as part of the deal. Dumb!

I remember having an old Meyer 7 back in the mid 70's. I didn't know what it was back then and I didn't like it much. I don't know what ever happened to it. I think I traded it for a level-air as I was really into Sanborn at the time. I think it may have been a NY but not sure. It's probably better if I don't know!
I sure wish I had that one back.

My parents bought me a used Le Blanc rationale tenor in HS, and it had a link hr piece with it. Slant sigature 7* I believe. Of course, I dropped on the floor of the bandroom and didn't think much of it. I didn't know what it was back then...although I do remember thinking it had a cool sound...Wish I could still have that one...
The other pieces I have sold I tend to think were better now--obviously I sold them because I wasn't happy with some aspect of how they played. I'm sure if I could play them all again I would remember the good and the bad of how they played...

You know... I did get top dollar for my vintage Meyer NY-USA. Okay... Okay... I give in. If I could get one mouthpiece back, and only one, like a magic wish for it to suddenly reappear... it would be that Meyer. Yup, I admit it... I'd like to get that Meyer back.
And then sell it all over again.

I had a Slant Link Soprano HR in a 5* that was tweaked by the maker. The perfect mouthpiece for the old Conns. Let it go with the Chu curvy for $250 back when I had hair but no brains or money.
