I received a Grassi jade alto in the mail yesterday. I 'won' the bid for another Grassi jade alto today. I am not even an alto player. I just saw a chance to get a couple of great saxophones for a decent price. I have learned to appreciate altos a bit more lately.
Grassi saxophones are great. I have an older tenor with the Buescher-style LH pinky keys and the 'G' octave key. It sounds really good and plays well (or it did until the pads got hard). It is in the 9000 serial number range. It is in the queue for a full repad and regulation now.
Thanks to the SOTW members for helping me to find these great Italian-made saxophones. They play very well and are relatively inexpensive. I have some vintage Conn and Martin saxes. These compare pretty well with those. I like them.
