Hello all, I've been doing some research on these purely by accident as I saw a Grassi jade roller alto on ebay. I missed out on that one, someone out bid me by $2 and I wasn't around a computer to counter it. Oh well! But as luck would have it, this model 2000 tenor with a serial number 600xx came up and lucky me I got it. It actually for my son who's in the school jazz band. He's been playing this Yamaha YTS61 that's beat to he double hockey sticks and squawks like a wounded goose. It's the schools so no point in dumping big money into an instrument that we can't keep. Hence, picking up a tenor he can use that'll sound great and by all indications from you fine folks this is one of the best Grassi put out. I still can't believe I only paid $560 for it. I'll probably get it some time after Christmas so I'll touch base when my son has a chance to test it out. I'm on the look out for an alto for myself. Talk to you guys later and Happy Holidays!

The Grassi Model 2000s and Professional 2000s are really nice horns that, though rare, still seem to be available for very low prices due to their lack of name recognition. I have a soprano Model 2000 that I paid about $1200-1400 for 20 years ago. You did very well on that auction!

Finally got my model 2000 tenor. I ended up sending it back. FedEx dropped it and ended up putting a nice dent into the bell from the brace and also pushing the whole bell assembly sideways making the bell keys inoperative.

Rather than trying to fix it all up and battling with claims, I told the guy I bought it from that it would be better to just refund the money and he can do what he needs to do with FedEx claims, get it fixed and then put it back out there to sell. I just don't have the time to do that.

Besides, this would have ultimately been my son's tenor. I had him play this one side by side with the Kohlert 55 tenor that just came in last week. No contest, the Kohlert 55 blew the doors off the Grassi. He fell in love the Kohlert so it stays and the Grassi goes back. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

That's depressing.
