View Full Version : Brancher J29
There have been a few posts on these pieces over the yeasr, but I can't seem to find them. Anyone have experience with these for tenor, the brass version?

Try saxforte: click here (http://www.saxforte.com/accessories/play/mouthpieces/tenor_mouthpieces/tenor_mouthpieces.html#branchertenor). Scroll down to J29TG, meaning "J" chamber, 29 tip opening, i.e., 2.90mm, "T" for tenor, "G" for gold-plated brass. (I'm saying all that for my own benefit, mainly, to remind myself of the Brancher naming system.)
I think Mathew Aaron of saxforte is the only authorized dealer for Brancher in the U.S. I could be wrong about that, though.
Thanks--I remember a thread that mentioned the name of a player who used one of these, wish I could remember who that was. I have one on the way, so I suppose I will find out soon enough...

Hi, i just sold my 2 Brancher mp's, a J29 and a B29 and i can say there truly great piece's.So well made and am sure you will like the J Model, very free blowing like a Lebayle Jazz mp but not as harsh i found.Good range and a very nice warm sound, the B is a great full on rock gig piece but lack's warmth and body on softer gig's but still a nice blow, sold mine to make way for my Hand Made Law Buzzer which i had a 115 tip at 1st but later sent back and got a new piece made which is a 120 tip and it's a killer, range is fantastic with lot's of body and warmth,if you ever get the chance of one, grab it.
Ok, so the mpc I just received is actually an LJ29 not a J. I was surprised, I figured they were the same thing. I guess not, this looks really nice and plays like a good link, but I have to find the right reeds for it. Anyhow have any info on this model? I think the J had more of a berg kind of baffle, this one has must designate large chamber.

I should add that the way the baffle is shaped looks a lot like the links that Steve Neff has with the added material making a longer rollover. Seems pretty cool...nice to be surprised...

I was around Eric for several years when he was playing at the Studio Cafe in Newport Beach and at that time he was playing on Beechler pieces. Here is the link to Eric's equipment that I would assume is current?

I thought it was Eric Marienthal.....but it is another premier (mainly) alto player that uses Brancher mouthpieces on tenor...Nelson Rangell. Sorry for the mis-information there!

Mark, not too far off--it says he's (erik M.) is using a brancher lig on his berg tenor...
