The seller says the horn come's from Don Rafaell's estate, I assume we're talking about Don Rafael Garrett (hence the question mark in the title). Called it an alto too, and was corrected. I'm not looking for a tenor, but thought I'd throw it out here for someone who might be looking for a horn with some history.

Don Raffell was a sax player in LA...he did the " Time Life" records, and was in Doc Severinsons Tonight Show band backing Johnny Carson.

The spelling, leads me to think it was Don Raffell.
Your spelling it a bit different than the E BAY ad too.

I bet its Dons horn. FWIW- HE WAS A FANTASTIC PLAYER.

Tim, thanks for the heads-up.

I was actually thinking of Donald Rafael Garrett (1932-1989):

Didn't realize there was a Don Rafell until you said so. It could be Don Rafell, not Don Rafael, but the auction house is also selling other wind instruments belonging to one the Dons in question, and Don Rafael Garrett was a multi-instrumentalist. Aren't you glad I put the question mark in the title?

The clarinet offering (http://cgi.ebay.com/H-SELMER-BREVETTE-CLARINET-PARIS-COIF-MOUTHPIECE_W0QQitemZ220329399441QQcmdZViewItemQQpt ZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item220329399441&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50) has an interesting bit of work done to it.

The tip of the mouthpiece has DHR scratched into it, not DRG as I would expect if it was the other player. An interesting sale, some kind of crazy work done to that tumbrest as well.

Thanks, well-spotted on the DHR and thumbrest! Did Don Rafell have H as a middle name?
