I just purchased a Vito "Noblet Standard" (I guess made in the Beaugnier workshop) tenor.

I was wondering if others who have owned/played this or similar tenors have thoughts on good mouthpieces for it.

I suppose experiences with mp's to stay away from on this sax would be just as helpful!

thanks,

I use an berg larsen 120/2 ebonite on my Leblanc Vito tenor works fine for me.

These saxes are real mouthpiece friendly, except they don't seem to like large chamber pieces particularly well.

(and yes, I know I brought this up from the dead) ;)

I have both Vito Melodia and Noblet tenor mouthpieces - they both have medium/med-small chambers to them. email me from my profile if you are interested. The Noblet has it's original dark green box, even.

Any good mouthpiece will sound good on this horn. My personal favorite for a Jazz type of sound, would be a Hard Rubber Meyer 7 or 8, or an Otto Link Hard Rubber Tone Edge 6*, 7, 7* or 8 . Getz played a Slant Signature Hard rubber Florida Link 5* with Lavoz Med Hards ... How could you go wrong?? Are you looking for a classical sound? How about a Tenor Larry Teal Selmer mouthpiece with a round chamber. Also the Ralph Morgan 3C is the perfect classical piece of all time. You will have to personally try them out and see what works for you. Good Luck!!

My Rousseau 5R sounds great on my French Vito. Trading my RIA for a Yani for a more centered sound for Jazz. The RIA was way too spread on this sax! RIA centered great on a Buescher and King Zephyr though.
